Scanner Buddy

Scanner Buddy is an app used to monitor radio traffic from public safety agencies around the world. Its an excellent tool for EMS providers looking to here what’s going on in their response areas or neighbors looking to police their neighborhoods.

The app is designed like a police walkie talkie with icons lining along the middle. One button allows you to select agencies to listen to, listed by country. Clicking on the United States will pull up a state listing and "California" will pull up different agencies, including the Sonoma County Sheriff, Riverside County Sheriff, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff. Select one, click "Play", and listen to the frequency which takes no more than 10 seconds to load. You can also find agencies near your location by clicking on the GPS button.

The apps advantages are its fast loading speed and large selection of public safety agencies. The only drawbacks are its limited list of providers and the lack of subcategories other than state. Still, Scanner Buddy is an excellent app for monitoring police traffic while on the scene of an accident or checking to see how safe your area is at any time.
